Preparing for Leaving Home

Many students will decide study or work in another city away from their home. Whilst this is a very exciting time, it can also be very daunting for even the most confident student. At Lymm High School, we offer practical advice on leaving home and help students to become confident, independent, wise young people! Students have the opportunity to learn how to cook basic meals and complete a variety of activities on working with a budget. In the past year Year 13 students also enjoyed learning some basic but essential skills, such as how to iron a shirt and how to read washing instructions, to even how to put up a shelf! We also provided the students with sessions where they are aware of their surroundings and how to be safe whilst away from home. Below are some links to websites that offer practical information for parents and students when preparing for either going to university, going away on a gap year or even applying for jobs.
